I'm Serhan Balcı. I live in Mudanya

I am the father of a girl and a boy. We live a quiet life in a small coastal town called Bursa, Mudanya. I am currently working as a full-stack developer at a company called Teamtailor, based in Sweden.

I have been working remotely for more than three years. Our tech stack is Ruby on Rails, EmberJs, PostgreSQL, Redis, ElasticSearch, Heroku, Docker, Graphql.

I have been developing software for more than eighteen years. As a professional, I have served as a team leader, in full-stack, and senior backend developer roles.

I've been using Ruby on Rails for 9 years. I always like to learn new things and use new approaches. I have developed an e-commerce infrastructure and warehouse management system with Ruby on Rails. Also, we are still developing an ATS system in Teamtailor.

Before Ruby on Rails, My main programming language was ASP.NET C#. I used MS SQL Database solutions. Why did I move to learn Ruby on Rails? Because Ruby on Rails is a very high-level language. It is pure Object-Oriented. Easy to understand. Of course, Ruby Gems makes an important difference. Also, you change the core functions of Ruby with meta programming and you can extend existing methods. So flexible language.

Also, I am familiar with such technologies; like Amazon AWS Cloud solutions, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL like MongoDB, Redis, ElasticSearch(OpenSearch), Heroku, Docker, Graphql, etc.

Moreover, my experience in software development has taught me the importance of collaboration, adaptability, and continuous learning, which are really the most important talents in any tech team.
